Life is Getting Easier

With two 4-month olds and an almost 2 year old, you would imagine we live a crazy, hectic life....you're right! However, life isn't as chaotic as I thought it would be when we found our we were expecting twins. I imagined a FAR worse picture and I've been pleasantly surprised with our experience so far! We're busy, don't get me wrong, but it's manageable!

Leif was a very mellow kid. He was always pleasant; giving smiles and chuckles very early on. He ate well, slept well, and we had trained him to fall asleep in his bed, on his own at 4 weeks and to sleep through the night at 6 months. We were told that we were just lucky, that our next kid would most likely be polar opposite. When we found out we were pregnant, I wondered what this baby would be like... and then when we were surprised with the news of having twins, I wondered what our two babies would be like. Would they be opposites like my sister and I were/are? Would neither of them be good babies? Would one sleep and the other not? I envisioned a full time job of feeding, burping, changing and on two different schedules.

After 4 months, I can tell you that we have two really good babies.  Thanks to the advice from two of my friends who are also moms to twins, we put our boys on the same schedule early on. We made sure to feed the babies together and to put them down for naps/bedtime together. With this very deliberate and intentional schedule, we have successfully lived a more normal life than anticipated.

We are now coming out of our 2 week winter break and I feel rested, rejuvenated and ready to start the new year. I feel this way in part because of the long break from work, but also because I can proudly say that both the twins sleep through the night (5:30pm-at least 5am)!!! We moved the twins out of the loft and into Leif's room, so now we have 3 boys all in the same room, sleeping through the night! Our crazy life seems to be getting better by the day...
